چکیده

Power transformers are located in the electrical transmission and distribution networks where different voltage levels needed. The turn ratio of low high windings is mechanically controlled by an on-load tap changer or de-energized changer. As transformer’s only moving part, it highly susceptible to mechanical failure aging degradation. While some diagnostic tools have been used determine condition contacts, not much attention was given use frequency response analysis diagnose changers’ integrity. This paper taking one step forward into maturing application (FRA) technique detect transformer faults. In this regard, two common faults created, experimental testing for four FRA test configurations conducted. For a better understanding fault mechanism, equivalent circuit model proposed designed using Simulink. simulation implementation circuits MATLAB\R2018a.

Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (sfra) an Approach to Detect Hidden Transformer Faults

Sweep frequency response analysis is a major advance in transformer condition analysis. Frequency response is performed by applying a low voltage signal of varying frequencies to the transformer windings and measuring both the input and output signals. The ratio of these two signals gives the required response. This ratio is called the transfer function of the transformer from which both the ma...

Classification of transformer faults using frequency response analysis based on cross-correlation technique and support vector machine

One of the most important methods for transformers fault diagnosis (especially mechanical defects) is the frequency response analysis (FRA) method. The most important step in the FRA diagnostic process is to differentiate the faults and classify them in different classes. This paper uses the intelligent support vector machine (SVM) method to classify transformer faults. For this purpose, two gr...

Innovative Transformer Load Tap Changer Control Using Ethernet-Based Communications

This paper describes the design of a load tap changer (LTC) control for up to four parallel transformers using a modified circulating current approach. The LTC control discussed in this paper was implemented using programmable logic, math functions, and IEC 61850 communications over fiber-optic Ethernet. One LTC control is associated with each transformer. The current angle from each LTC contro...

Solid - State On Load Tap - Changer for Transformer Using Microcontroller

The on-load tap changing (OLTC) regulators have been widely used since the introduction of electrical energy. They ensure a good regulation of the output voltage in presence of large variations of the input voltage with typical response time from several mili-seconds to several seconds. Earlier mechanical type of on load tap changers were into practice. But they had considerable limitations and...

Effect of Solid-State on Load Distribution Transformer Tap-Changer on Power Quality Enhancement

Recently electronic tap-changer has received more attention due to its quick response, better performance and simpler maintenance compared to the mechanical tap-changer. This paper presents the capability of the distribution transformer equipped with an electronic tap-changer for improving power quality. At this end, the analytical computation for determining the compensating limit of electroni...
